As the first references to the existence of the parish dates back to the XVI century (prior to 1514) and its importance advém da atidiva agrícola intensa.
The parish of Luz de Tavira is located six kilometers from Tavira and is delimited to the south by the Ria Formosa and to the north by the parish of Santo Estêvão.
